Seasonal Holiday Picks

A look at a few of our specialty seasonal picks perfect for the holidays, and available for special order Monday at noon for Wednesday delivery or Thursday at noon for Monday delivery.

Chestnuts

Available by the 2 LB Bag or 12 x 2 LB Case

Italian AAA Chestnuts

Peel them, then cut an "x" into the flat end and roast them over an open fire or in the oven for 15-20 min.

Roasting them will uncover a slightly smoky, sweet, and starchy flavor with a creamy texture.

Delicious applications for baked goods, stuffings, and sauces.

Baby Brussels Sprouts

Available by the 10 x 500 GR

With their gentle brassica flavor, these little green buds have broad culinary appeal. Cultivated in Holland, they hint of cabbage and broccoli but are both sweeter and nuttier.

Baby Brussels Sprouts cook faster than full-sized, need no peeling, and can be microwaved with excellent results.

Roasting brings out their sweetness.

Fuyu Persimmons

Available by the Layer

Fuyu Persimmons are a holiday staple, and with the holidays right around the corner, they are the perfect winter fruit to incorporate into your holiday menus!

They have a sweet flavor and can be eaten raw, the same way you would eat an apple.

Unlike Hachiya Persimmons, Fuyu Persimmons can be enjoyed while they are still firm. Due to this, they can be sliced or cubed making them the perfect addition to charcuterie boards.

Clementines

Fragrant, brightly colored, and citrusy at once, clementines lend themselves to both sweet and savory applications.

The ultimate snacking fruit for adults and children alike. Full of flavor and less acidic than other citrus, and everyone loves how easy it is to peel!

They are great on their own or as a salad component or gastrique.

Black Winter Perigord Truffles

Available by the 2 oz or 8 oz Case

"Black Diamonds," aka Fresh Black Périgord Winter Truffles are the most desirable black truffle variety.

Périgords have a knobbed exterior with a dark, webbed interior and are known for their heady, loamy, chocolaty scent and flavor. These truffles are also known as tuber melanosporum.

White Truffles

Available by the 4 oz or 8 oz Case

With its pungent, garlick-y aroma, fresh white truffles are the undisputed king of all funghi. Flesh ranges in color from pale cream to brown with white marbling throughout.

Alba truffles are often said to have an aroma that blends garlic, fried sunflower seeds, and walnuts. They are earthy, pungent gems, to say the least; best shaved raw over fresh egg pasta, cooked eggs, polenta, risotto, or potatoes.
